It’s no surprise that the Washington Wizards are terrible again this season. The team made a coaching change just a month into the season after a horrible season. Now, they’re just 9-29 and have the third worst record in the league.
With the trade deadline quickly approaching, the team is ready to make major moves according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post. In fact, everyone on the team can be had except John Wall.
And there’s one more thing for any interested buyers: you have to take Andray Blatche off their hands. That could be a tough pill for anyone to swallow with Blatche under contract for three more season and is owed more than $23 million.
But the Wizards do have some enticing pieces on their roster. JaVale McGee is a raw center that has showed signs of putting it together. He is due to become a restricted free agent this offseason and is looking to get paid. The going price for big men has typically been pretty high, even for ones that are unproven.
Nick Young could provide some instant offense off the bench while Trevor Booker is starting to play very well and could be a nice piece on someone’s frontline.
The big question will be if a team is willing to take on Blatche and his bloated contract to get one of these players or if the Wizards will blink before the deadline and not insist on the big man being included in a deal.
