Former Celtics’ player Jeff Green had successful heart surgery on Monday to repair an aneurysm. The faulty artery was found before the season during a routine physical and will keep him out of action for the season.
Doc Rivers told CSNNE.com out of Boston that he heard everything went well for Green.
“They’re saying it went great,” said the Celtics’ head coach. “Obviously, our thoughts, our prayers, and every part of our being is with Jeff right now.”
Rivers is also hoping that Green can play again and, if possible, chooses to play with the Celtics. But if and when Green can return to playing hoops, he will be an unrestricted free agent since the team pulled his qualifying offer before the season.
