Will he, won’t he.
That is the game that has been played all afternoon with Dwight Howard and whether or not he will pick up the option for next season.
Marc Stein of ESPN.com is reporting that Howard will not waive his early termination option for next season and he will become a free agent this summer.
Earlier today, it was believed that Howard had decided to waive his ETO and would return to the club for another season. But before tonight’s game against the Spurs, Howard and his agent Dan Fegan held a conference call with Magic owner Rich DeVos and CEO Alex Martins that he was not prepared to give up his ETO but his first choice is to stay with the team for the remainder of the season and not be traded.
Howard did tell several teammates this afternoon that he was not going to opt out of his contract and that he did not “fully understand the ramifications” of giving up his option.
And it goes on and on and on.
