There were plenty of smiles at Reunion Arena as the Dallas Mavericks raised their championship banner.
Then the game began.
All those smiles quickly turned upside down as the Miami Heat dominated the defending NBA champions with a 105-94 win that was no where near as close as the final score showed.
The Heat had no problem scoring, putting up over 30 points in each of the first three quarters. That offense had them up by 15 after the first quarter and 21 at halftime. Miami turned it on even more to begin the second half and was quickly leading by 35.
Lebron James had a masterful performance with 37 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Dwayne Wade was no slouch with 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
It looked like the Mavericks were still celebrating their championship from last season while the Heat were looking towards winning one since putting together the big three.
You have to wonder if this lack of defense for Dallas will continue throughout the season with the departure of defense stopper and lane clogger Tyson Chandler who is now defending the paint for the New York Knicks.
