Around the Rim: Tim Duncan still has game

A quick recap of the Sunday night games in the NBA.

Spurs 102 Suns 91: The Spurs taking advantage of their schedule early on this season which is heavily loaded with home games. The team improved to 9-0 on their own court as Tim Duncan dropping jumper after jumper and leading his team with 24 points. His team needed all of that as the Suns got it back to a five-point game in the fourth quarter after trailing by as much as 19 before the Spurs put it away with six straight points. Steve Nash and Grant Hill returned from injuries while Marcin Gortat had 24 points and 15 rebounds.

Jazz 106 Nuggets 96: The Jazz were just too strong up front, led by Paul Millsap who scored 26 while Al Jefferson added 18 points and 12 rebounds. And with that, Utah controlled the pace of the game and wouldn’t allow Denver to go up-tempo like they did in their previous outing this season. The Nuggets made it a two point game in the fourth before Millsap took over, scoring 14 straight and giving his team a comfortable lead. Nene and Danilo Gallinari each scored 18 points.

Warriors 99 Pistons 91: The Pistons had dominated this series at home, winning 15 of the last 16 in Detroit. But the Warriors bucked the trend behind Monta Ellis who scored 17 of his 22 in the second half. The Pistons couldn’t slow down the visitors from Golden State who shot over 52%. You’ll hear this a lot this season … Greg Monroe had another big game in the loss with 25 points and 8 rebounds.
